Frank A. Marshall, AIA, LEED AP

Architect

Frank Marshall is a registered architect in Pennsylvania and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Frank has experience in green building design and has worked on many commercial, institutional, and K-12 educational projects. He has been involved with prototype design for grocery, pharmacy, and sporting goods retail outlets.

A native of West Virginia, Frank graduated from the University of Virginia and then earned his Master of Architecture degree at Georgia Tech.

Frank spent a few years after graduation working for residential and commercial design and construction companies. Prior to joining SMB&R in 2008, he worked for Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates in Mechanicsburg for sixteen years and at Bink Architectural Partnership in Camp Hill.

Frank serves on the Board of Trustees of Camp Hill United Methodist Church and supports his children’s participation in basketball, Scouting, and YMCA Adventure Guides.

Hal T. McDonald, RA

Architect

Hal McDonald is one of the founding partners of SMB&R. He retired from day-to-day practice in 2008, but continues to collaborate on projects of personal interest and serves as an advisor and consultant.

During his career, Hal was responsible for overall architectural design and production and management of the firm. He provided professional services for projects involving renovations, alterations, adaptive reuse, and new construction.

Hal grew up in Arkansas and Kansas and earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree at Kansas State University. After graduation he began working for Marshall & Brown Architects, a large firm in Kansas City.

In 1969, he relocated to Pennsylvania and began working for Benatec Associates in Camp Hill. Hal worked at Benatec for twenty-five years before he and the other founding partners started SMB&R.

Hal and his wife have lived in their 1930s home in Camp Hill since 1974. He enjoys spending time on his boat, fishing in Canada, traveling with his family, camping, and reading science fiction.

Pete Smith

CADD Technician

Pete Smith holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Drawing from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, as well as an Associate of Architectural Technology degree from Harrisburg Area Community College.

Pete is responsible for production of construction drawings, development of CADD standards and systems, as well as the maintenance and improvement of information technology for the office. Pete is skilled in three dimensional modelling and rendering using Blender, and applications programming using Python.

Pete is a sculptor and his work has been included in group shows in Philadelphia and Chicago. He lives in Carlisle.
